Blanka Vlašic takes Gold!!
In my opinion High Jump is one of the sadly ignored sports by most of the world! People seem to over look it and sure enough local South African Television networks don’t prioritise it! During the Beijing Olympics I had to get up at 3am one morning simply to watch the high jump (which was interspersed with 400m running) It will go as always, South Africa will suddenly put out a great high jumper and voila suddenly the networks will think it worthy!
What was totally awesome though, during the 2009 Athletics World Championships, Blanka Vlaši? took Gold! You gotta love and support a girl who can jump over just about everyone on this planet… including me, and I stand at 1.93m tall! It redefines… ‘High Five!’
Upside:- It is well deserved after her second place at the Olympics!
Downside:- We don’t see enough High Jump on TV networks in SA!
