The Power of Eye Contact

You’ve all read those stories in books or online, where the story is written from the girls perspective. The line in question here is, ‘he looked across the room and our eyes met…’

Now firstly… ladies you’ve all read these… but how many times has it happened to you? If it hasn’t, would you like something like this to happen to you?

The reason I ask is when does this happen and when does it cross ‘that’ line to the point where a guy looking at a girl across the room just becomes ‘pervy’? Guys are visual beings and so for us its a hard habit to break… in the same breathe at bars/clubs whats the reason girls dress up? To look good, did I hear you say? *cough* and who for?

Anyway getting slightly off topic here, what I am talking about is the eye contact the look that lingers! Across a bar, sure it happens… I know because I’ve done it! Its a flipping bold thing to do, especially in this day and age where eye contact barely ever happens! Its not in our nature. Try walking through a shopping center and make eye contact with someone longer than a brief flash… most of the time people will very quickly look away! Now translate that to the bar/club situation… everyone is automatically programmed by societal pressures to look away. Why? Respect? To avoid being labeled as that ‘perv’ who keeps checking me out? Lack of Confidence?

Everyone looks away, even when we don’t want to… and often even more so when you’re actually attracted to the person you just glanced at!

Dating & Leading Someone On?!

So just a few weeks ago I had a very interesting discussion regarding the matter of dating. The topic, ‘leading people on’. Now I personally don’t believe in leading a girl on, taking things to the point where feelings may have begun to develop, unless you are serious about that person. It seems only fair and honest. In all honesty I have lead someone on before, and I think everyone has in some form or another. I really cared for the girl I ‘lead on’ but then as always life gets a little more complicated than it needs to be and things between us fell apart.

However during this discussion, the two ladies with me totally disagreed. They were totally for it, even to the point of saying, ‘its expected’. I was a little taken aback. They went on to say that even the 3rd date kiss rule can be considered as part of the ‘leading on’ phase and still does not mean you need to commit to that person. They continued with, ‘Kiss the person on the first date if it goes well!’

Really?! Is this the reality of whats going on out there?! Am I just epically old school in my thinking, or have I been completely left behind. Urban Dictionary’s definition of Leading Someone On is, ‘ to do stuff with someone, without wanting a real relationshiop with them.’ It has 51 Agrees and 18 Disagrees. Which makes me feel that my feeling on this is similar to that of the rest of the world… but why not comment and let me know your thoughts!

Reminiscing

The end of October gets closer everyday now… I have to be out of my flat so ultimately I should really start looking for a new place to stay. I have however begun slowly packing up my stuff, pretty nuts how much stuff one can gather in just over a year. Been going through my CD collection and found my Smashing Pumpkins – Adore Album and listening to it now has sent me traveling back in time, roughly 3 years! Its a long story possibly one that I could refer to my tweet from a few nights ago ‘Click Here‘. This was one of those types of romances I suppose, a whirlwind of emotions that all ultimately ended up going nowhere. Not quite unrequited love because it was certainly a two way thing… that sadly just never came to be, cut short, hearts broken, emotions hurt, and nearly a complete loss of touch with said person. Sad!! I miss having her in my life.

There was more than something there, a connection with said person that I have never felt with anyone before or since… emotional, spiritual, physical. A benchmark was set those few months that has not only been a constant shining memory I will carry with me forever but also curse…

Avatar 3D Styled Photography

3D Movies like Avatar use a system of creating the illusion of depth in a 2D image, this method called Stereoscopy has been around for quite some years now. Chances are that your parents might remember seeing images like this or even movies. Back in those days however the images were known as anaglyphs and were images separated by cyan & magenta.

These days however those same images are reproduced in modern cinemas using Polarised light thus removing the annoying colour variations.

What is exciting however is setup side by side, these sorts of images can be viewed without the use of glasses, this technique called ‘free viewing’ gives you the exact same results simply by changing the way you look at these pictures.

Two methods exist Cross Eye and Parallel… I consider Cross Eye to be superior simply because Parallel has a major restriction, being restricted to images whose combined width is no wider than the distance between your eyes.

I went searching across the net to find such images and was delighted to find groups on flickr dedicated to this form of photography!
